Washington Jon Kyl voted against more funding to prevent and protect against wildfires
- Kyl voted against redirecting $15 million to the Wildland Fire Management Program from timber sales allocations. Kyl voted against an amendment that would reduce the National Forest System's timber sale program by $30 million and redirect $15 million to the Wildland Fire Management Program. [Vote #207, 7/18/00]
- Kyl Opposed Funding for Firefighters. In 2003, Kyl voted against authorizing the Secretary of Agriculture to borrow funds from the Treasury to pay for firefighting costs that exceed funds available and to provide funding to conduct hazardous fuels reduction and burned area restoration projects on non-Federal lands in and around communities. [S. Amdt. 2031, Vote #421, 10/30/03]
- Kyl Voted Against Implementing Hazardous Fuels Reduction Projects. Kyl voted against implementing hazardous fuels reduction projects and a system to track the budgeting and implementation of follow-up treatments that would be used to account for the long-term maintenance of areas managed to reduce hazardous fuels. [HR 1904, Vote #422, 10/30/03]
